Survival Tips

We have gathered some tips and advice from fellow CEE graduate students for making the best of your time at Princeton as a graduate student.

“Use career services to review your resume, cover letter, and interview prep.”

“Start writing early! Everything you write down now you will be happy to have later. Editing is so much easier than writing new text.”

“Read Engineering Mathematics by Greenberg before you start.”

“Never pass up an opportunity to network.”

“Get advice from current students about which courses to take.”

“Attend at least one of the wine and cheese nights at the art museum.”

“Visit the neighboring towns, they are fun and sometimes it’s good to get away from Princeton.”

“Don’t be afraid to approach the older grad students in your office and lab group, they can be a huge wealth of knowledge.”

“Make a bucket list for your time at Princeton, you would be surprised by how fast time goes by. Visit the free ceramics studio open sessions in the 1938 hall, kayak on the canal, go ice skating on the lake and have brunch at Proctor hall.”
